Parkinson’s Disease and other Movement Disorders Clinic
The Parkinson’s Disease and other Movement Disorders Clinic at Guttmann Barcelona’s Brain Health Institute specialises in the comprehensive management and rehabilitation of motor control disorders, especially Parkinson’s disease and other parkinsonisms, including different types of ataxia, dystonia and chorea.
With its comprehensive approach, the Parkinson’s Disease and other Movement Disorders Clinic is based on not just offering the most advanced therapies in rehabilitation of Parkinson’s disease and other movement difficulties, but also on adequately covering the associated emotional and cognitive aspects during each of the stages of the disorder.
For patients with secondary cognitive, behavioural and emotional alterations caused by Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, a neuropsychological assessment helps provide patients and their families with a better understanding of their new situation, as well as develop strategies that in some way help compensate neuropsychological alterations and optimise higher functions. In these cases, the whole session takes place in the presence of the neuropsychologist in an individual session designed specifically for each patient.
