Bipolar disorder

Bipolar Disorder is characterized by episodes of major depression combined with one or more episodes of mania or hypomania, ie feelings of great euphoria, irritability, high vital and mental energy, insomnia, distorted perceptions of superiority, among other symptoms. In this case, the person has already entered an irrational, psychotic state, with delusions and inability to calculate risks. Episodes of mania typical of Bipolar Disorder often require admission to avoid situations of real danger to the patient and his environment.

Warning and alarm symptoms

Despite the mood swings, sometimes people with bipolar disorder do not recognize the problem and how it affects their lives and those of their families. Episodes of euphoria are often followed by episodes of negativity, very low mood, loss of interest in almost all activities, feelings of worthlessness or guilt causing consequences in social relationships and work. Some of the symptoms that a person may experience during the period of manic mood disorder are:
